Biography

Katie is a lifelong resident of Sandy and a graduate of Alta High School. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in both Elementary Education and Special Education from Utah State University, she and her husband chose to raise their four children in Sandy, the community they love and are proud to call home. With over 20 years of experience in education, Katie currently serves as a special education teacher at a local elementary school. Teaching in her community has been a privilege, allowing her to advocate for students with disabilities while staying actively involved in local schools through PTA, PTSA, School Community Council and school events.

Katie’s involvement with Sandy Suburban Improvement District began after she became concerned about a policy matter. By working closely with elected officials and the District’s professional staff, she successfully helped bring about a policy change. That experience inspired her to seek election for the Board of Trustees.

In addition to her background in public education, Katie brings experience in accounting that has shaped her approach to fiscal policy. Since joining the board, she has prioritized conservative budgeting, helping keep rates steady and property taxes unchanged for over 20 years. She has also supported environmentally responsible initiatives, including a lateral sewer line repair policy that protects groundwater and helps reduce the financial burden on homeowners.

Katie is honored to serve the residents of the Sandy Suburban Improvement District and remains committed to fiscal responsibility, environmental sustainability, and responsive local governance.
